Excel Export

Exporting to Excel

There's no separate reports section in Visure. Reports come from the views you're already using — configure the view the way you want the report to read, then export to Excel.

The views were designed to be the same surface for editing and reporting. Whatever filters, columns, and sorting you've already set up for daily work translates directly into the structure of the exported file.

Where Excel export works

  • List View — the most natural starting point. Items are already rows, attributes are already columns. The export mirrors the view exactly.
  • Saved Views — apply a saved View first, then export. The View's filters, sorts, and column selection are reflected in the result.
  • Traceability Matrix — exports as a tabular link list with whatever attribute columns you've added.

How to do it

  1. Open the view you want to export.
  2. Configure it: pick the columns the report should have, apply any filters, set the sort order.
  3. Click Export in the view's toolbar.
  4. Choose Excel.
  5. The .xlsx file downloads. Open it in Excel — the structure matches what you had on screen.

What to set up before exporting

A clean export starts with a clean view.

  • Filter first. Don't export everything if the reader only cares about a subset.
  • Choose columns deliberately. Six to ten attributes is usually right; thirty is too many.
  • Sort by what the audience needs to see first — priority, status, owner, due date. Item code is the default but rarely the most useful.
  • For Matrix exports, add attribute columns so the audit artifact has context, not just connection lines.

Common scenarios

  • Stakeholder review — List View of a requirements document, filtered to Status = Approved, columns showing code, name, priority, owner.
  • Audit artifact — Traceability Matrix between requirements and tests, with Status and Priority columns added.
  • Change report — List View filtered by Last Modified > date, sorted by date descending.
  • Status meeting — List View filtered by Status = In Progress, sorted by owner.
  • Baseline record — Same view exported at the moment a baseline is taken, archived as the official snapshot of that point in time.

Repeatable reports

Most reports recur. Configure the view once, save it as a View, and exporting becomes two clicks the next time: apply the saved View, click Export.
