MCP: prerequisites and server URL
Visure Authoring exposes an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server so AI assistants β Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot β can read from and write to your Visure instance in plain language: create and update requirements, tests, and risks, search items, manage traceability, and generate reports from a chat. Before connecting any client, do these two things once.
1. Enable the MCP. Open appsettings.json in the Authoring installation folder (default C:\inetpub\Visure Authoring 8\appsettings.json) and enable the MCP section:
json
"Mcp": {
"Enabled": true,
"MaxPageLimit": 500,
"InactivityTimeoutSeconds": 300,
"AllowHeaderAuth": true
}
2. Get your Server URL β the URL you normally use to reach Visure, with /mcp appended:
Deployment | MCP URL format |
|---|---|
Visure Cloud Hosted |
|
On-Premises / Private |
|
Some on-premises installs use a different middle segment than
/VisureAuthoring8β confirm yours first. If unsure, contact your Visure administrator or Visure support. For private/on-premises deployments, make sure the MCP endpoint is reachable from where the AI client runs.
Once both are done, follow the article for your client.
