User types
Users in Visure are created at repository level and then associated to user groups (roles) within a project. Therefore, a user may belong to no projects at all, only to some, or to all projects in the repository, except for the ADMIN user. The ADMIN user will always belong to all projects unless it is disabled.
There are different types of users according to their access levels:
- ADMIN user: This user is the default and first user of the database and has unrestricted access to all projects, items and capabilities, which includes creating and managing projects, users and the elements inside any project, among other things. The ADMIN user may assign other users as Super Administrators. The ADMIN is a Visure user, which means that it uses Visure authentication. This user may be disabled, provided that there are other Super Administrators active in the repository.
- Super Administrators: Any user of the repository may be assigned as a Super Administrator. Super Administrators will also have unrestricted access to the Repository and project settings similar to the ADMIN user, allowing them edit repository settings, create and manage projects and users, and assign other users as Super Administrators. However, as opposed to the ADMIN user, Super Administrators may be assigned to specific user groups inside projects, and therefore, will take the corresponding access rights associated to the user groups they have been assigned to.
- Project Administrators. Each project contains by default a group of Project Administrators. This name is editable and may be different for each project e.g. Project Managers. When a user is assigned to the Project Administration user group, the user will have administration privileges over the project. These include unrestricted access to all elements in a project (items, attributes, workflows, etc.), as well as access rights management and project settings. However, project administrators will have restricted access to the Repository and project settings. They will only be able to manage the projects they are administrators of and will not be entitled to create new projects or manage users outside of their project. Project Administrators will be able to access the repository settings in read-only mode.
- Non administration users. Non-administration users will not be able to access the Repository and project settings but will be able to log in to projects with varying levels of access according to their role.
